FAIRUL ZAHID 

Fairul Zahid holds a Master Degree (MFA) from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and has been a Principal Dancer/Choreographer in Aswara Dance Company for several years. He also was a lecturer in several Local Universities in Malaysia including National Academy of Arts Culture and Heritage and University Technology MARA (UiTM). He is currently a dance lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. He has collaborated with several artist local and international including Riki Von Falken (German), Gideon Oberzanek (Australia) Un Yamada (Japan), Ena Herosie (Japan), Sean Curran (NYC), Netta Yerusalmy (Israel), Chunky Move (Australia), Patrick Suzeu (U.S), Jeff Tsei (Taiwan), Brigel Gjoka (German) Pamela S.Pietro (New York), Yachao Zhu (China), Herbert Alvarez (Philippines), Akram Khan (London),  Elena Laniog (Philippines), Lane Gifford (New York), Hala Shah (Abu Dhabi), Crystal Pite (New York) and many more. He has produced several full-length and a mix bills performance for tour in Beijing, Los Angeles, New York, Jakarta Indonesia, Philippines, and Chicago. He is one of the country’s leading young artist, a prolific and versatile choreographer/dancer working in disciplines of Contemporary, Ballet, Malay Dance, Chinese Classical Dance, Indian Classical dance, and Jazz. He performed in several festival local and international and also has been awarded in several choreography competitions in Malaysia and other countries. He has received several award local an international including Cameronian Arts Award, ALLANA Choreography Competition, Yokohama Dance Collection, Dance Escalator  Project, Short and Sweet Dance Competition, and many more. Besides choreograph and dancing, he also have published several papers in dance choreography and dance education in Malaysia. While in UiTM He has developed a new program in diploma Technology Dance and Drama. Currently he is persuing his PHD in University MALAYA (UM) Malaysia. Recently his work CanSur Have been awarded as best group performance at Cameronian Arts Awards. He has won Best Group Performance in Cameronian Arts Award for the Theatre Oedipus Production under the Fita Theatre Assemble in, Best choreographer in a full-length work (INTRIGUE) and won MASDANZA Award at the Yokohama Dance Collection 2022. He is also one of the prolific young scholar focus on choreography and performance.
